Human Growth Factor Grafts
We are proud to offer an effective alternative to using block grafts with patient or cadaver bone for those patients who don't have enough available bone for implants. Infuse is the first FDA approved synthetic Bone Morphogenetic Protein grafting material available for oral procedures. This material is currently in use for spinal fusions, and it may offer an effective alternative to those patients who do not desire to use human material, or for those people for whom other grafts have not been effective*. We have been impressed with the results that we have experienced thus far in our patients and are happy to give our patients another choice in the type of procedure that will best serve them.

Human Stem Cell Grafts
As always we are looking for ways to enhance the procedures that we perform and offer our patients the very best care available. In our practice, we have begun to use a new graft material that has promise to help improve bone grafting results, particularly in older patients*. It is a well known fact that the number of stem cells in our bodies declines precipitously from childhood into adulthood and even further as we age. This is the primary reason that younger people heal more quickly following surgery. Stem cell grafts have the potential to augment the patient's own stem cells in the surgical area and promote early healing. Whether or not this results in improved surgical results is still not known, but there is certainly that potential. The stem cell graft that we offer, Osteocel, is derived from adult human stem cells (embryonic stem cells are not used in this graft material) from individuals who have been certified as disease free. These are living adult stem cells which do not exhibit an immune response, so no tissue match is necessary.

*Though studies are ongoing, neither Infuse nor Osteocel has been proven superior to other commonly used oral graft materials.
